What about quality independent writers who don’t want to write promotional content for brands (corporations)? What about all the quality writing that never appears in the feeds because the writers don’t have humongous followings? Oh, that’s right, Medium judges quality strictly by ‘performance.’ To Medium, quantity IS quality. Of course, what brand (corporation) is going to want to pay Medium writers to promote their brand unless those writers have humongous followings and therefore appear in the feeds day after day? It makes sense. This sounds like a wise business move for Medium, the corporate brands and the top 1% of writers. Medium’s vision is becoming ever clearer and it looks like Medium will only become an ever greater success. Thanks for sharing this information with us. Good luck to everyone. This is something that everyone can benefit from; especially the readers.
