In Space, Everyone Can Hear You Laugh.

Ever been to space? I have, just last night. It’s easier to get there than you think. Take the Wellington Cable Car to the top, hang a right and follow the signs.

A Play About Space is… well… a play about space and it’s playing at Space Place. Get there early. Get in the zone.

Lights out. Pitch black. A galactic fly-through. A face appears. It’s Warner Hornshaw’s. In an abandoned ship, he’s looking for something. He finds floating cyborg zombies, a gun and a box. What’s in the box? That’s for you to find out.

Wellington-based theatre company, My Accomplice, have performed this play before. In 2013 it won Best Theatre at the Dunedin Fringe and Best Design at the Wellington Fringe. So, what’s different this time? The setting. It was Space Place’s idea and it works incredibly well!
The story unfolds on fast forward. Scenes switch quickly through plot twists and mysteries. Something about a a Zorgon alliance, an interstellar war, a bounty hunter and cryptic cargo.

This is funny and physical theatre. There’s fight scenes, puppetry, op shop props, lots of “Woosh!” and “Pew! Pew!” plus plenty of room for your imagination to move.
Ever flown a space fighter in a dog fight? I have, just last night.

A Play About Space returns to the New Zealand Fringe Festival for 2 shows on Wednesday, February 17 at Space Place then February 29, March 1 & 2 at Victoria University of Wellington’s Memorial Theatre Foyer (Student Union Building).
