If you are unfamiliar with this story, here is a quick rundown, Charlie Gard is a terminally ill 11-month-old boy who has been suffering for months in England, the United States has a plan that will potentially save his life, but British courts have halted the Gard family from proceeding. The Gard family is doing everything in their power to save Charlie’s life, they have been willing to participate in the treatment across seas for well over a month. Charlie’s name is now at the center of global debate, President Donald Trump as well as Pope Francis have offered their support for the Gard family.

Recently the United States Congress unanimously allowed Charlie Gard and his family permanent resident status in America, as an attempt to save Charlie’s life. The resident status would allow Charlie to receive treatment at a more rapid speed and fast track him for care, cutting through the red tape. Charlie will be examined by a United States neurologist living in London, then a judge which has fought to keep Charlie from receiving the treatment will decide his fate in the upcoming days.
