I have not seen a situation where I felt it was used in a positive way. I only feel that we should just be simple about it. So many are getting upset over almost everything. It is almost to the point that many feel that it is better to say and do nothing at all about anything because they fear the backlash for almost everything today. It seems there is always a loud (usually VERY rude) person ready to turn even a simple question asked into some sort of fight while claiming that the person who asked the question is terrible for wanting to understand something. Maybe the wording is not right but that is a sign they do not understand the subject to start with. If people are scared to do anything because they could end up without a job, a home, or even physically harmed maybe it would be better for everyone to just hide in a cave, alone. Extreme, yes but it is how some feel about the world today.
In this case, it is words. But how far is it from being much more? This is on both sides of this. If I am called something in hate by those that even think I do not fully agree with them, what reaction do they expect. What I am saying here is if someone who is transgender does not want people to use words in a bad way about them, they should be doing the same to others. Sorry, but ‘cisgender’, while it might have not started as a bad term, is a negative slur. It would not be the first word this has happened to.
