The Holiday Lights Project
Jason Cole

Another Bostonian tries to start spreading some light but learns that some people have trouble with the concept:

For some reason I was overthinking and finding it difficult to jump in and start my #turnonthelight effort. Today I decided to start easy and went to a Dunkin Donuts, purchased a gift card and handed it back to the cashier/manager and said “please buy coffee for as many customers as this will pay for today”. He was so confused and looked at me like I was trying to scam him so I tried again with “I would like to pay it forward and treat as many folks as this will cover for coffee”. Still a blank stare. I finally said “If someone looks like they need a reason to smile today, please treat them to a cup of coffee and a donut on me”. He finally looked at me and said “I don’t know what to say. I’ve never had anyone do this before. Thanks.”
Not sure what will happen with that pre-paid gift card, but hopefully it will #turnonthelight for a few folks today.
