You are entirely correct about a good 95% of white people in the US, left and right, too clueless to admit to any fault or shortcoming of any kind, in any meaningful regard (i.e., if it has a cost, no way). They cannot read history worth beans, and get their notions about the past from all-white casts in Hollywood national hagiographies.

Where’s that percentage taken from? Same number who think the US has been acting in good faith on the world stage for the last century or so, and have no clue about leaded gasoline, toppling dictators, or the origin of the country of Panama. Or who have never seen a map of the US prior to 1840 and asked, “Whatever happened to those other nations?” Same number who never flinch at the words “greatest” and “exceptionalism,” and are entirely unaware of their stark contrast with the nature and workings of democratic theory (free hint: based on a universal notion of human equality).

Can we spell “mineral rights?” No? What about “enforcing corporate interests in the Third World?” No? How about Trump and his boys just now skipping over science to introduce an uncontrolled, deadly pesticide into use? No? Paris Accords? Uh-uh? Outta luck, then. Go back to Rosy Mirror, and tell her a mean white boy has been dissing you big time with facts, and just as always, you cannot take it. I’m sure she’ll puff you up in no time.
