60 Seconds with WITS MidAtlantic Speaker — Gabrielle Trotter

Gabrielle Trotter is a Firmware Engineer at Tesla. Her Hands-on Workshop session at WITS MidAtlantic is Opening the Black Box — Hardware Tear-Down of a Digital Camera.

Why is speaking at WITS important to you?

I think WITS mission with TechGirlz to inspire and empower women in tech is an important one. I think diversity in people involved in technology is just as important as diversity in types of technology people are enabled to explore, so the goal of my workshop is to open a door for folks to gain an interest in electronics and hardware in what otherwise can tend to be a software dominated space.

What inspires you?

The amazing creativity and innovation that emerges in technology when it is developed by a diverse and thoughtful group of people.

When you were a kid what was your dream job?

Ice cream truck driver. No joke.

Quote about their session

If I end the workshop with a graveyard full of awesome camera innards, we’ve done it right. Or maybe we can merge several together into one zombie camera…
