The Women Who Code We RISE Technical Conference 2018 is an event that brought together tech professionals from across the country and the world, to discuss, to inspire to network and dream, as they listened to and interacted with some of the great luminaries of the industry.The event kicked off with announcements and opening remarks from the Directors of the WWCode Atlanta Network, Erica Stanley, Beth Laing, and Angel Banks.Next, the MC of the event, Stephanie Jouet, a Founder and Mobile APP designer, who remarked on, “How special it is to be in a room with some of the greatest minds in the industry, and most of them are women.” She went on to encourage people to reach out to one another, to connect, and to be there for one another. “We RISE is about more than workshops and learning, certainly it’s about that, but it’s also about community.”Next up was WWCode CEO Alaina Percival, who greeted the crowd with some inspirational words, “Our mission is to inspire women to excel in technology careers, because if you don’t stay in your career you wont make it to VC, Founder, Technical Executive, Board Member, or whatever your dream is.”

She also shared some inspirational numbers:

  • 137,000 members worldwide.
  • An average of 5 free technical events every day.
  • $2.7 million in conference tickets and tech scholarships given away.
  • And a new cohort that is expanding WWCode to an additional 47 cities.

With that a two day event, rich with inspiration, information, and networking opportunities kicked off with a sense of glowing enthusiasm, as the first Keynote speaker was introduced…
