4 Ways JADE & LOTUS Proved There’s More To Wrestling Than Winning

For fans of WOW Women of Wrestling, every match is its own win-win situation. If your favorite Superhero succeeds, you share the joy of their victory. If the bad guys triumph, you’re even more engaged in the next match.

But for the wrestlers themselves, a loss is a loss. And no tag team took adversity as gracefully as Jade and Lotus. We’re digging into the WOW vault of photos and video to share how the energetic duo proved there’s more to the sport than Championships:

1.) The fan connection was real.

During the first season of WOW, fans flooded the Great Western Forum with signs supporting the Jade and Lotus tag team, no matter their win/loss record.

2.) Their shared heritage mattered.

Many WOW tag teams formed for the wrong reasons. We’re looking at you Lana Star and Patti Pizzazz. But Jade and Lotus built a meaningful connection with each other, finding common ground in their shared Asian roots with Jade’s family being from China, Lotus’ from Korea. The two women formed a genuine friendship over the course of their training and the result was…

3.) Undeniable chemistry.

When you’re on the same page as much as Jade and Lotus, you can sneak up on opponents like Slam Dunk and execute moves like this one. Even if it didn’t earn them a win or shot at the tag titles, moments like these made Jade and Lotus matches can’t-miss.

4.) They had each other’s back.

Unlike other WOW Superheroes who turned on their friends as soon as things didn’t go their way (again, looking at you Lana Star), Jade and Lotus stayed loyal to one another. They set a positive example within the women’s tag division, but also served as role models for female friendship in the eyes of fans. And for that, they may not go down as the winningest pairing, but they sure made a mark on the history of WOW Women of Wrestling.
