The PATTI PIZZAZZ Guide To Turning Bad

Clotheslines. Bodyslams. Arm drags. All of these maneuvers are important in professional wrestling, but they pale in comparison to the greatest move of all — the turn.

Wrestlers are notoriously mercurial and the original ladies of WOW Women of Wrestling were no different. And perhaps the most dramatic turn of all occurred when Patti Pep transformed into Patti Pizzazz. If Patti took the time back in 2000 to write a guide for turning bad, we think it’d read something like this:

1.) First, be good.

Contrast is key. In order to go bad, you need to start good. Patti began her WOW journey as the fun-loving cheerleader, Patti Pep. She sported classic blue and gold, a positive attitude, and a catchy cheer to match.

2.) Make friends.

Again, you want to really build your good girl credibility if you want to get the most dramatic bang for your buck. Patti chose to befriend fellow cheerleader Randi Rah Rah and they fought together as a virtuous tag team.

3.) Face injustice.

Nobody wants to deal with humiliation especially at the hands of Lana Star in the middle of the WOW ring, but that’s exactly what happened to our dear Patti Pep. Moments like these can make any pure-hearted wrestler question if their ethics are worth fighting for.

4.) Grapple with temptation.

With her tag partner Randi Rah Rah out of commission due to an eye injury, Patti Pep was more vulnerable than ever. Lana Star took advantage of the situation and propositioned Patti with promises of a Hollywood career and coveted L.A. lifestyle. As is the case with every hero’s journey, Patti needed to make an important choice…

5.) Debut a “new” look.

What better way to communicate a change of attitude than with an evil new color palette? In choosing to don pink, Patti made it clear that she’d pledge allegiance to the The Fabulous One.

6.) Change your name.

When you’re turning bad, you need to make that explicitly clear. A new wardrobe isn’t enough. Patti made sure to bring her turn full circle with a name change. Patti Pep was gone and the bad Patti Pizzazz was here to stay.

7.) Deal with something called karma.

One of the biggest drawbacks of turning bad is that your evil ways tend to catch up with you. Patti learned that the hard way when Ice Cold decided to attack her in the WOW locker room during her feud with Lana Star.

8.) The moral? Turn bad at your own risk.

Despite being a dedicated assistant and tag team partner, Patti Pizzazz would end up like all the others that came before her — fired. And neither Patti Pep nor Patti Pizzazz has been appeared in professional wrestling ever since.
