Twitch Chat Overlay

I have previously written about ways to pin a transparent window of Twitch chat over top of your games. This is primarily a boon for those streamers that are currently using one monitor and want to be able to view and interact with their Twitch chat without having to use a second device such as a phone/tablet or window tabbing out of their games.

Enter a new contender, Twitch Chat Overlay.

It’s a program that *gasp* displays your Twitch chat (or a channel of your choosing) in a transparent window on your desktop. No extra settings necessary.

Once started and the window is in the position you want, you can press the ‘O’ icon in the top bar and ‘poof’ the borders of the chat window disappear and the window is locked in place and you can click through it. Pretty slick.

Look Ma, no borders!

Part of what makes Twitch Chat Overlay an easy program to pick up and use is that it isn’t bogged down with lots of settings options. It just does what it says on the tin. Options include setting a chat fade, zoom level (increase or decrease font size) and setting the channel chat to display, and really that’s all it needs.

Now this program won’t be perfect for everyone. For those that wish to still be able to type in the chat they are viewing there is no input box with this one, it’s strictly for viewing.

If you want to give it a try, then head over to https://github.com/baffler/Transparent-Twitch-Chat-Overlay/releases and give it a download.

This has personally been my go to program for having my chat available to view during streaming for the past 2 months. I’m currently very happy with it as it fills my needs quite easily. I would suggest giving it a go if other programs such as Restream.io or Chatty just aren’t cutting it for you.

Do you have a favourite program for viewing your Twitch chat during streaming? Share it with us in the comments.
