The Power of the Holy Spirit
This message is more of a testimony than anything else. I believe it is important to share what God does in our lives because it can really encourage someone. Before I started teaching over ten years ago, I used to attend a lot of Christian conferences throughout New England. I went to a few prophetic conferences where the Spirit of the Lord moved in an amazing way. The Holy Spirit loves to be “invited” into our churches and into our meetings. He loves to see that people have faith that He is here to be with us, to help us and that He still performs miracles. Power is one of His characteristics. The Bible says in Acts 1:8 “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth.” His presence is tainted by power. Power to change lives and power to do the impossible.
There were some great demonstrations of the power of the Holy Spirit in those meetings. One of them was at Glad tidings Assembly of God church in southern New Jersey. I went to the last meeting on a Sunday night. The praise and worship time was phenomenal. You could feel the Spirit and the meeting was very uplifting. The speaker had a great sermon and he had words of knowledge and words of wisdom for members of the audience. I hung around after the meeting and a lady came up to me. She said she could see a light coming out of me from across the room during the meeting. She had strong spiritual eyes and she was very sensitive to the Holy Spirit. I told her I had been getting closer to Jesus thanks to His beautiful Spirit. She asked if she could pray with me. We held hands and closed our eyes. She told me after the prayer that she could hear music while we were praying. She described it as pure music from Heaven. I was stunned.
That experience stirred my spirit and I became even more on fire for the Lord. I will never forget it. What’s interesting is that for the past few weeks, I have been hearing music in my head. It’s not music that I know. It sounds like an angelic choir. They are singing about Jesus and the melody is out of this world. I asked a couple of friends if that happened to them and they looked at me like I had four heads. It’s not a usual thing and it doesn’t happen all the time but when it does, it is a great reminder of the presence of the Holy Spirit. He displays His power in many ways and music is one of them. Note that the songs always focus on Jesus. That is what the Holy Spirit does. He focuses on the Lord and brings us closer to Him. Friend, I pray that the Holy Spirit becomes even more real to you. I pray that you partake in His power and live with the awareness of His presence. Nowadays I feel His presence in a permanent fashion and I know I am not the only one. Let the Spirit of truth wrap you in His love and give you experiences that He only can give. Amen!
