“People think you’re cocky till you’ve got it” - K¥NG

Work Smart Show daily blog.

When I first heard this lyric it really stuck in my head and I had to relisten to the song several times to listen to all the lyrics more closely. It reverberated in my head when talking to someone at work about a family trip to Paris we have planned for 2026. It also jumped up again when discussing our podcast and blog with an old school friend.

If you have goals and are working on actionable plans to get there you will sound cocky and possibly over sure. I have always been careful to say that this podcast and blog is not a way to promote myself or our team but a way to build up people in a similar position to ourselves. This is reflected in our mission statement “to encourage entrepreneurs to step out and build their dreams while supporting those working 9-5's to find fulfillment and work to excellence.” The first part of this refers to Jared with his online business, work and study and I fulfill the second, working in a regular day job and trying to excel in this environment.

This is the reason that Jared and I could never say that we are currently successful businessman that everyone should listen to but we can honestly say that we have goals of building sustainable businesses and succeeding within our respective work and study.

If we can offer any advice it is to have high goals and be passionate and consistent in chasing these. This may come across as cocky which is something we do need to be aware of as to not alienate people. However we cannot let other people’s opinions affect or change our goals otherwise we will end chasing their goals or worse chasing nothing at all
