What It’s Like to Leave a Company You Started

Absolutely great piece — I’m getting ready to make the same decision after 18 months of the founder that I’ve been helping in his endeavor constantly pivoting endlessly without user feedback or enough product market fit. I created a simple and linear path at the beginning of the year to move forward on pasted on my three past years of extensive user research and paint points and came up with what the initial MVP should have been off of that. The whole plan was laid out very clearly and simply with vendor structure and everything else needed to move forward. Since then, the main focus has changed at least six times from what I crafted. It’s no longer going to work in its current state. Decisions like this are hard to make, you put your blood and guts into it. It’s come time for me to break away. I know that I can rest at night that I did my best.
