All well and good if you work in the ivory towers of tech and coding but in the real service world we would get killed if we followed rules like this.
i work as a project manager in the commercial furniture business for two companies that I’m a partner for.
We need to hit the clients dates plain and damn simple. Multitasking is a damn essential requirement of the job Monday thru Friday. We are there to service the damn client not ignore them I may have 6 to 10 clients that i need to interface with in the course of the day with change orders
people need to train their minds how to process interruptions correctly.
Deep work is nothing more that a fucking cop out.
You want to succeed — -this is what you need to learn how to do.
- Learn to work anywhere — -Penn Station in New York, a supermarket, etc Environment means absolute shit. I’m on construction sites all day long and don’t have time for all of this bullshit
- stop the quiet crap at your laptop. Learn to listen to loud aggressive music when you work metal, hard rock, free jazz Turn that shit up and work right through it.
- Meetings unless it for a customer deal no can do.
- Learn to answer your phone and your email notifications. Speed kills baby. I’ve closed more deals because I’m om top of my game all day every day. Answer the question and close that sale .
It’s all about mental toughness folks learn to fuck, the deep work, the headphones, soylet, the timers and see your capacity to do more exponentially increase.
Most people rather spend the time using all of these crutches instead of proper mental training
