Outstanding point. It’s also a bonus if the thing that you “hate” is from your industry or back round as you’ll have the deep knowledge necessary to know how to start solving it. I wish somebody like Pedro have given me this advice earlier in my career.
I’m speaking from experience — I started up an import export music business back in the early 90’s because of my “love” and “obsession” with music. these factors clouded my mind from really being able to see what the “problem” was I was solving.Hence, it failed. In short, I rationalized turning a hobby into a business. Do what you love works great if its a hobby or side interest.
Pedro is 100% correct here. People create something because of intense pain. For example — -Doug Collins created Fieldlens as a project management software to deal with all of the bullshit in that vertical. He lived and breathed the problems for years and created a real system that solves the issues. We adapted it to the office furniture business and it works brilliantly. This is just one example of many out there.
Just remember what Pedro said — -if you really truly hate it as well as others in your industry — -there’s your opportunity — now go solve it.
