Did you know that faith-based substance abuse treatment programs have been linked to lower anxiety, higher resilience to stress, more optimistic life orientation and greater social support? These are factors that aid in successful addiction recovery.

We have just released the third installment of a 12-part article series on faith-based addiction recovery. In this series, called Faith in Recovery, we explore the facets of faith-based recovery, how different religions view drug abuse and how religion affects substance abuse, among other issues. In Part 3, we answer the questions: What is the history of faith-based programs? What does it mean to be faith-based? Are faith-based programs more effective than secular programs?

Whether someone is personally suffering from addiction or knows someone else who is, they could benefit from reading this series.

We would also love your feedback when the series concludes, as we are committed to finding ways to improve our content for our readers.

You can find the third installment of the series here: “Is Faith-Based Addiction Treatment More Effective?”
