Loot Crate’s WWE Slam Crate is Here
In the midst of August heat comes the most exciting partnership and product launch in WWE history, so wipe off that salty brow and listen in. In the left corner weighing in at 250 pounds of solid cardboard boxes, Loooooot Craaaaate! In the right, glittered with oil, bleached greasy blonde hair, and resembling a ripped hot dog, W. W. EEEEE!
That’s right brother, WWE and Loot Crate announced the pre-order of their all new bi-monthly WWE Slam Crate subscription. Loot Crate, the premier source for fandom subscription boxes, is letting people sign up for their chance to purchase the very first Slam Crate. Started in 2012, Loot Crate has grown from one crate subscription to numerous crates that all cater to different interests for now 600,000 plus recurring subscribers.
What’s in the box?
They promise to fill every crate with official, exciting, and mostly exclusive items only the truest of WWE fans will consistently enjoy. The partnership was originally announced back in June of 2016 and in only a couple month’s time they have been able to throw together the first theme.
Loot Crate has laid out what each box generally contains:
- EXCLUSIVE Superstar collectible line created just for WWE Slam Crate
- 4–6 mystery items in every crate, including apparel, collectibles and more
- Delivered every 2 months
- $60+ retail value in every crate!
Pricing — Is it worth it?
It costs $29.99 (plus shipping, handling, tax) for each WWE Slam Crate (United States & Canada only), and they boast a $60 retail value with each release. This doesn’t come as a surprise, Loot Crate is known for their discounted pricing with their subscriber base. It comes with the business model, if they can guarantee the funds will be recurring in volume, the discounts will stand.
If you are a fan of WWE and don’t mind a few surprises every couple months, this might be the perfect crate for you. Each crate will certainly venture out of just JOHN CENA goods and merch. You also need to be open-minded to the fact that there will be wrestlers in these crates you may not be a fan of. Overall, it’s a great deal for fans who want exclusive gear from their favorite wrestling franchise.
Will they release anything for their video games?
Will Loot Crate enter Suplex City? Back when the WWE was the WWF, I loved watching The Hulk and The Rock own the crowd and their adversaries. I called everybody “brother” for a period of time and even perfected my one-sided eyebrow raise. The video games that came out for SNES in the early 90s were amazing in multiplayer. It was all about the rumble, every man for himself in a massive testosterone-fueled ring battle.
Current gen WWE games have hit new heights in graphics and in-game physics. Will Loot Crate add a digital bonus? Complementary DLC would take their exclusives to the next level. Imagine getting new ridiculous outfits, new arenas/maps, anything that adds a new flavor to the 2K16 & 17 games. One can only hope this partnership builds on creative crates for WWE fans everywhere.
