Yes, relevant post. The thoughts and ideas are well known (to me) but the terminology is interesting and helps to frame the underlying thoughts better. Especially the “zone of proximal development” reminds me of the “adjacent possible” as innovation-principle. And that is most likely not a coincidence.
This type of framing might be more helpful than saying the world is your inspiration and no holds barred in finding it. That’s true in theory but not useful in practice.
The expert-generalist framing also elegantly sidesteps the alleged dilemma of Broad (but shallow) interest vs Deep expertise as most fruitful basis for creativity.
