Check Your Bias
Have you ever thought any of these things about bisexuals?
If a guy says he’s bi and you think he must actually be gay and in denial, if you simply can’t accept that he is genuinely attracted to multiple genders, you need to check your bias.
If a gal says she’s bi and you say she’s really straight and it’s just a phase or she’s just experimenting, you need to check your bias.
If anyone says they’re bi and you assume they’re attention-seeking or they’re confused, you need to check your bias.
If a person in a monogamous relationship says they’re bi and you believe that’s not possible or that it is no longer relevant, you need to check your bias.
At the root of each of these is the problematic belief that bisexuality — any multisexuality — is not a valid sexual orientation.
Assuming bisexuals are either gay and in denial or straight and just experimenting buys into the idea that multisexuality is not real, that only heterosexuality or homosexuality are legitimate.
Assuming bisexuals are just confused or just want attention is not only condescending but, again, biased against multisexuality being a valid sexual orientation.
