My Name in Books

A little fun in honor of my birthday.

Back in 2019, I did a “get to know me” -type essay in honor of my 38th birthday. I thought about revisiting that this month, maybe updating it with a few more topics for my 42nd birthday. But it felt like it wasn’t the right time, yet.

Then, I remembered a trend I saw on social media a while back where people were using titles of books to spell out their names. Honestly, I don’t remember the specifics of the trend and I haven’t seen it in a while, now. But, hey, whatever. Anyone who’s ever accused me of being on-trend clearly doesn’t know me. I either avoid trends completely, am so late to the trend that it’s not a “trend” anymore, or, in very rare cases, am so early that it’s not trendy yet and later I’m like, “Wait, what?!? I had the hardest time finding that and now it’s everywhere!” (Chocolate fountains in the early aughts, I’m lookin’ at you).

Anyway, when I saw this name-in-books trend, I remember thinking about how you can get to know a bit about someone by their taste in books and how fitting it was to use the letters of your name to share your favorites.

And, I wanted to do a fun essay for my Birthday Month. So, here we are!

I sifted through the list of books to which I’ve given 5-star reviews and found a selection to represent each letter of my name.
