Three Reasons Why You Should Get Dressed if you are Working From Home

  1. It provides a similar psychological effect to being in the office: There is a certain energy that comes with working on location. I can’t build up that energy while in my night clothes. Even if it is comfy pants and an old concert t-shirt, I need to get changed to get myself in the right frame of mind.
  2. Your boss/colleagues do not need to see that your favorite shirt from college is past its prime: I get it, it's a physical stand-in for that time in your life. But if you are required to have your camera on during meetings, it’s not exactly professional if it is full of holes or fading after many years of washing.
  3. You want to make a good impression on your interview: One of the keys to succeeding in a job interview is making a good impression. That includes your physical appearance. Obviously, you don’t need to put on a full suit if it is being conducted on Zoom. But as long as it is business on top (without the camera seeing the casual bottom half), it goes a long way in hopefully getting the job.
