I think we have some growing pains to go through as software engineers, and part of that will be realizing we are members of a completely fungible, highly sought after profession. As such, we need to use our power as a collective to improve situations like these. If Rick was really having such a shitty time at the hands of management, Rick should find a new job. I guarantee that if he’s worth anything, his inbox is full of recruiter emails.

The greatest power we have over management is our mobility; so instead of complaining, how about we start lifting ourselves and our peers who don’t have it so great out of the depths of bad company practices. Quit and find you a place that deserves you.
