My two cents is that if you’re looking for another write up, why not cover tooling (webpack and babel) and ES2015 without a client side framework? I think those concepts are more useful than React for a complete beginner. Not because React is too complicated, but because if you already have a fundamental understanding of JavaScript and its toolkit, React is a very logical extension of that; after all, at the end of the day React is just JavaScript—nothing more, nothing less.
