Yup! If you’ve got build quality concerns…Sony isn’t the best choice right now. I even wrote about this myself and mentioned it in the build quality section of the showdown! It’s a bummer.


I have no way of knowing how widespread these issues are, and that’s the only thing that keeps me from telling people to run away from the Sony pair. I suspect these issues don’t affect every pair…but the horror stories about customer support are unacceptable. Regardless of how wide-reaching the build issues are, if Sony was handling it better…it wouldn’t matter nearly as much. If the reports I’m hearing keep up at their current pace, I may have to refresh this showdown even further to warn people away from the Sony’s in spite of their technical superiority.

Bose’s pair might not be built out of the same nice materials…but I personally haven’t seen anyone complaining that they break and I’ve never had a pair break either. They also have really good customer support.
