Xotika.tv is a Bitcoin-only platform. This allows us to give our customers a safer and more private camsite experience. We don’t have to collect or store personal or financial information about members, and any funds our models earn can be withdrawn at any time.
Those are some advantages of being a Bitcoin-only website, but why don’t we accept other cryptocurrencies too?
In the past, we had a widget from Shapeshift integrated into the platform, which allowed users to utilize a third-party service to convert altcoins and deposit Bitcoin into Xotika. However, the feature wasn’t used very often.
We explored a switch to Changelly, a similar service to Shapeshift, but in the process we decided to remove the conversion features entirely.
Users at Xotika.TV often request that we add support for depositing directly with various altcoins, but in the end we are certain that Bitcoin is the best blockchain to build on.
We are a small team with limited resources, and we are making a deliberate decision to focus on Bitcoin and its latest features. Everything else is a distraction. We do not want to waste time integrating widgets from Shapeshift, or spinning up and maintaining various altcoin nodes, or updating our platform to support the latest altcoin du jour.
Supporting some altcoins can come at great risks that some users may not be aware of. For example, Ethereum-based projects have lost hundreds of millions of dollars in cryptocurrency due to flaws. Sometimes an altcoin goes offline, or requires a critical security fix or fork. That’s all unnecessary overhead that we would like to avoid.
Instead, we integrated Segwit early on, allowing more efficient deposits and withdrawals.
The next site update will include support for native Segwit transactions (bech32), the smallest and best format for regular transactions.
And now, we are dedicated to integrating the Lightning Network as soon as possible.
