As we bid farewell to January and welcomed February, the air filled with the fragrance of love and romance. Indeed, the month of February is full of love and romance. The anticipation of Valentine’s Day is evident in the shops, in the air as well as on the faces of the lovers.
I would just smile.
Incandescence is my second novel, a happily-ever-after story of a young girl, Alisha Humayoun Khan, who has her future all planned out. After graduating in high honors, she’s looking forward to setting up her own business and software house called DesignSoft Technologies. In two years, she has built a name for herself in the IT industry but little does she know that her life is going to take a vicious turn for her.
Working late night in the office, she accidentally falls asleep but awakens to the smell of burning wood. The office around her is on fire. She tries to escape but the burning wood log falls on her face, scarring her.
Alisha suffers from second-degree burns on her face and left side of the body. In the aftermath of the accident, Alisha loses all her self-confidence, her pride and her ego as she sees herself for what she had become: a monster. With her will slowly dying, will she lose everything that she’d built for herself?
Incandescence is a sweet story of love, romance and one woman’s journey to make the best of predicament in the face of foes. In the end, it all comes down to one question: Is it true that beauty is only skin deep?
