Mythereum

Mythereum is taking the cryptogaming world by storm — and it is no surprise. There is features and functional levels for everyone! Let’s discuss their Free-to-play aspect set: Survivors! Anyone who makes an account, can claim a total of 30 free trading cards (randomly generated from the Survivor Set). Once you arrive at the Mythereum site, it should auto generate 1 free pack (10 cards) for you, and allow you to claim the additional 20 cards (2 decks) — as seen below.

Getting Started

With that video, you should be all set to start playing Mythereum! I highly suggest setting up the Mythereum Discord (Link) and talking with players to get some battles going! You can also just head over to the Battlegrounds (top of the screen) and choose a battle that has not started, just be careful, only join a “survivors only” battle, otherwise you may go up against some veteran decks!

What to do with your new found free cards you ask? Look no further, there are several activities you can partake in. First your best bet is to make a deck of 5 out of the 30 free cards. So go ahead and create a new deck, rename it if you so desire, and look for cards with the following abilities:

  1. Distraction
  2. Evil Eye
  3. Killer Leap

If you can find five cards in your 30 with those, you have a great head start! Generally you would want 2 Distraction, 2 Evil Eye and 1 Killer Leap, optimally. If not, search your deck for healthy defense stats (top left corner!)

Health>>>Card Mechanics<<<Attack

The Green circle is your card health.

The Red circle is your cards attack.

The Blue rectangle is your special ability cost, and the numbers on the left or right correlate to your top scores if it triggers. (Need Magick).

So as you can see above, Gabrielle is a card that has both a defensive buff and an attack buff. So when she is attacking, she can do a total of 38 damage to her opponent, or if attacked she may be able to block up to 39 damage. This will only occur if you, the player, have enough Magick stored up in your reserves to activate the ability, otherwise she will only do 17 damage and take up to 20 damage.

(Protip: Under the card, in your deck builder, you may see “upgrade” and “auction”. If you Forge free-to-play cards, you can upgrade their stats with in-game currency, or sell/trade them to other players for other cards!)

Battlegrounds

So, once your deck is built, head on over to the battlefield as shown above. Inside this menu space, there will be several options down below, so head over to “Not Started”. Look for battles with the “Survivor” Tag. (Avoid ones that say things such as “Any”, “Mixed”, “Genesis”, etc).

Once you have found one, click “Join Battle” and choose your deck! Remember to pick the new deck you made, if any (this is where naming decks help!). Once you do, there will be a prompt to “Start battle” under your “No Leader” card, so go ahead and press it and have fun!

Create “New Battle”

Alternatively, or in addition — you may choose to “Create a new battle”. This allows you to set custom features for your battle preferences such as:

Which Deck,

How fast each turn is,

What type of battle mode (1v1, 2v2, or 4 person free for all),

Same Edition (or not),

Whether to allow Bot accounts or not (bots are AI players run by Mythereum),

Whether to have a 1 single round battle, or a skirmish (2 round tourney style),

Whether to allow public visibility or set private for a single player to join,

Whether to appoint a Stake — winner takes all. (Only MX for now)

Accessing Tournaments

Once you have had some experience, and want to experience more of the opportunities free-to-play has to offer, head on over to the Tournaments section. As you can see above, hit the Tournament (Top in green), then scroll down to see active tournaments. As you can see above, multiple Tournaments for Survivor Card with Survivor Card rewards are available. Just click “View & Signup” to see the details page, and to choose your deck to register with!

(Protip: You can edit and update your deck after registering, and can even update your deck mid-tournament!)

Here is the Tournament interface:

At the top, you can see the countdown timer until registration closes. This will generally adjust to match your computer’s time zone settings.

Here we also have an area where tournament creators can write in custom rules, or make announcements regarding the tourney, as well as a useful spot for sponsors to advertise!

In the mid section, you will see the rule sets for Entry Fees (if any) amount of participants currently signed up, versus the minimum required to launch the event at the scheduled time.

In the drop down menu, if you have a qualified deck, it will be highlighted.

Near the bottom left, is the reward structure. This is a free-to-play tournament, so only cards and in-game currency (MX) are being rewarded. Look out for special free-to-play tournaments that offer Premium Card rewards!!!

Additional rule sets will also exist at the bottom, including how many duplicate cards of that edition may be used, and if it is a mixed tourney, how many cards from each set. Usually here will tell you how many cards you need in your deck as well. I believe this tournament is a 10 card deck, with no duplicates!

So there you have it, the best way to get up and running with Mythereum, free of cost! We have a slew of additional articles geared towards beginners so please head on over to the Mythereum Medium page, and check out our Beginner Article series!

Head on over to Mythereum, join their Discord, and get into some battles today!
