Nobody can deny the power of being able to speak multiple languages, being a polyglot means being open to many cultures, to the wide world. Only English can fulfill half of this goal, so how can you learn it in a fast manner?

First of all, the main point here is being already learning that language, so the tips that I will show you are only to boost and speed up the process, hacks that are scientifically proven. So bear in mind that you have to be already learning that language, either from books, or following an online course, or the easy way that I suggest is Duolingo, only 15 minutes per day can help you to learn a language.

But bear in mind that:

“ Real progress takes time ”

So let’s hop into how can we learn a language faster:

1. Listen To Music

A study has said that: Listening to English songs could help vocabulary. Particularly pop music.

During your commute, you can put on headphones, listen to music, enjoy and learn simultaneously.

2. Just Speak

You now heard some music and recognize the pronunciation. Practicing those words through speaking is a powerful way to memorize them and have the right English pronunciation. Either talking with yourself, to the mirror, or with somebody else, it doesn’t matter. JUST SPEAK OUT LOUD!

3. Immerse Yourself in The Language

You have to increase your exposure to the language. For instance: change your phone’s language and set it to English, or have a language partner and speak only in English, journal your days and write your memories in English, searching about topics, in ENGLISH. Increasing how much you deal with your targeted language, will increase your level exponentially.

4. Read As Much As You Can

You can’t imagine the impact of reading only simple short stories, even those ones for kids, learning 100 — 200 words that make up 50% of a language will make you able to have a short daily conversation.

5. Travel

I know this is a further step, but being in an environment where everyone is speaking that language will force you to listen much to understand native speakers, and speak as well as them.

You become a sponge that absorbs everything because you acquire that language as fast as The Flash.

I know how it is hard to travel abroad only to find native speakers to talk with, but you can meet them on iTalki, a popular platform that is changing the way the world learns foreign languages

Sign up from here and you will get a free trial, in addition to $10 after reaching $20 italki Credits. (I get a small commission for purchases made through this link.)
