However, we think of decorating a home the first thing which clicks our mind is a handmade carpet. Yes, this is true. You can change the entire look of your room by placing a single oriental handmade carpet. Handmade oriental carpets are woven in the finest quality of material such as pure wool, pure silk, the combination of wool and silk, a combination of cotton and wool, silk on silk, wool on cotton etc. So these carpets contain dust and stain if this is placed in same way for a long time. So you should clean it first if you want to decorate your room and give a stylish look. Find some easiest way to clean your handmade carpet.

Weekly Cleaning: — A handmade carpet requires weekly cleaning. So you should clean it every week. You can also clean an oriental handmade rug at your home. There are two methods which you can apply for cleaning your carpet on a daily basis.

  1. Vacuum your rug: — This is the easiest and simplest way to clean your carpet. If you vacuum it regularly then it will increase the durability of handmade carpets.

2) See precaution label: — If you get confused about how you can clean your rug then you can also check and read the label which is attached with carpets. In that label, the manufacturer gives the precautions like how can you clean it or what method is best to clean it.

Quick Cleaning: — If you want to clean your carpet in a limited time then you can use the following steps:

1) Remove your carpet: — First, you should roll up your carpet and place it in a courtyard or verandah where you can wash it with water or with other solutions.

2) Test carpet color fastness: — Now test your handmade carpet to decipher if the color of carpet is fast or not. You can apply this method on a small portion of carpet. Test the color with room temperature water, then press on it with a clean white cloth. If there is dye on your rug, then your carpet is likely to bleed and if carpet has fast color then you can continue this process.

3) Vacuum oriental carpet: — Vacuum your rug and then find the stained area. When you find this area then use a cleaning solution of a water and detergent. Spray on stain and then scrub it by hand.

Deep Cleaning of handmade carpet: — If you want to do professional cleaning at your home then you can follow these steps:

1) Move your Furniture: — You can begin this process by moving your furniture because a carpet contains more dust particles and stains at hidden parts. If we talk about a living room then you should check the hidden portions of carpets like behind the sofa or furniture, corners of carpets etc. So move your furniture from sofa and roll it.

2) Vacuum both side of carpet: — After that, vacuum it from both sides but clean the surface area of courtyard or verandah where you put that carpet for cleaning.

3) Clean with detergent and water: — Fill a bucket with cold water and detergent or soap to clean your oriental rug. If a carpet has fixed color then you can do this process. Flow this solution on carpet especially on stain parts and leave it for 10 minutes. After 10 minutes, scrub it by hand or any long and soft hair brush.

4) Use other methods: — If you think that carpet is dirtier or contains a high amount of stains then you can use other methods like baking soda method, ammonia methods, and talcum powder for removing stains.

5) After washing your carpet put it in shadow to dry and then use it for your room for decorating purpose.
