One’s Passion

An aspect in which I identify myself with J.D. Salinger’s Catcher in the Rye’s main character (Holden), is in one’s passion. And I know this might sound weird, but hear me out.

Before I actually found my passion, I didn’t know what other people meant with the word passion. I always wondered…

How does it feel to have a passion?

And why does our school emphasize on passion just so very much?

And as I asked myself those questions, I lived a laid back life. I focused on my grades… but not too much. I would care about school… but not too much. I would care about my health… but not too much. I would care about myself… but not too much…

I felt as if I didn’t really have a purpose. As if I was suffering from a tremendous lack of motivation.

And to be honest, I feel like Holden is quite like that.

He always finds the bad side in everything he sees. Be it from speculating about other people’s businesses, to the smell of Vape drops in an old man’s room, he is always a Half-empty kind of guy. And I have come to the realization, that I was like that too.

So, to all those were like me or Holden, to all who feel the empty spaces in your lives, don’t forget that they need to be filled by something.
