Yank Barry

Yank Barry, born Gerald Barry Falovitch, was born in 1948 in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Raised by his mother and father — the owners of a kosher-style butcher shop — he was the oldest of five children. The Falovitch family was the first Jewish family to move to a predominantly French Canadian area in Quebec known as Chomedy — a move met with anti-Semitism and hatred by residents. However, incidents from this racism allowed Barry to grow and shape his tolerant world view of people’s differences. Barry thrived from his early roots to become a renowned musician — following a move to Israel where he learned to love music — philanthropist and food entrepreneur, including a three-time Nobel Peace Prize nominee. He is the founder and chairman of Global Village Champions Foundation as well as Chairman and CEO of Yank Barry Group of Companies LTD.
