The Time My Mother Left

One time when I was a young teenager my mom left too…but it was not because of my sisters and I, it was after a fight she had with my father. I still remember that night… my father threw a bowl at her direction (not sure if he meant to hit her or just scare her). Without a word she turned around and walked out, and didn’t return that night. My sisters and I were not young kids, yet that incident scared us. We wondered if she was coming back.

She did the next day. In retrospect, it was good that she walked out. She let my father know she will not put up with violence and that kind of behavior.
