We love this time of year for many reasons, but most of all because it is the season of giving thanks and helping others.
At the Yellow Feather Fund, we have so much to be thankful for, including all the ways people support our work around the world. As a non-profit with a mission to help children everywhere grow smarter, stronger, and kinder, we go beyond teaching literacy and numeracy to provide children in countries around the world with critical health lessons and tools for tough situations. There is so much going on here — we wanted to take this opportunity to bring you up to date on some exciting developments.
This year we’ve seen Sesame’s autism initiative, “See Amazing in All Children,” thrive and grow, with even more great content coming in the new year. And we’ve expanded our work with American military families, adding new resources to help them cope with the challenge of transitioning to civilian life.
Overseas, we furthered our girls’ empowerment work with the debut of Zari, the first girl Muppet in Afghanistan, who is challenging gender norms and effecting social change by showing girls and boys alike how important it is for girls to be educated and to dream big — and we’ve recently teamed up with the International Rescue Committee to address the greatest humanitarian crisis of our time by bringing education directly to young refugees who have had to flee homes and schools. In total, we grew the number of kids helped by our work to 183 million.
We love being able to reach and teach children in such diverse ways. That work has never been more necessary, and we are fortunate that so many people want to support it. That’s why we recently launched Big Bird’s Yellow Feather Fund — so everyone can help.
We invite you to help Big Bird fulfill his New Year’s wish and achieve his mission to help children here at home and around the world by making a contribution today at YellowFeatherFund.org.
