Something Someone Said About Me That I’ll Never Forget

I stumbled on this 30 Days Writing Challenge, it has different topics for each day, which is good, as it solves a part of my problem — what to write about. At the same time, it also creates a problem — Soul searching. I don’t like tampering with settled water, I’ll rather hover on the surface provided I am aware of what’s in its depth. This is #Day2 of the #30DaysWritingChallenge.

Have you ever seen or heard something you didn’t have the words for, but describes you perfectly? It just dawns on you like daylight.

Yo! That’s me!!!

I won’t take your time, I promise. So, I am a very reserved person, I am so reserved, that at times it gets me worried. It is so bad/good I don’t even announce my birthdays.

I can be involved in a million things and I don’t tell more than 2 persons about it. I can travel the world, catch a selfie with Obama and you won’t even see a status update. It is actually ironic that part of what I like to do is Digital Marketing, and yet I have a very strong reserved personality. Well, talk about separating the job from the person.

I don’t want the attention to be on me, I’ll rather stay incognito, do all the work I need to do and make my impacts. While I was in school, I ran a campus blog that was quite popular — I loved that the spotlight was on the blog and I could walk the campus without people noticing me. I want to build stuff, solve problems, change lives and while doing this, I don’t want to make noise about myself. Pretty simple right?

And I have been like this for as long as I can remember, but it was all in my subconscious — it blended with my introvert personality. I had no idea I was like that, I was just like that.

So it struck me like lightning when one day, in one of those gatherings in school, Dayo Nigeria described me as a Background/Behind-the-scene person. I can’t remember his exact words. But when he said it, it got me thinking and reflecting.

Yea, that’s it. I promised not to take your time. Tomorrow is Day 3, the challenge is to write about my top 3 pet peeves.
