We’ve all had our fair share of doubts during our college days.

“If you have doubts about subjects, ask your professors. If you have doubts about your assignments, ask the first benchers. But if you have doubts about future studies or career plans, ask your seniors” — said nobody, it’s an unsaid rule of a college student.

Seniors are our sole career doubt busters!

We, at Yocket, realized the importance of a senior’s contribution to a student’s career and designed a feature around this bond of sharing and trust.

Getting cheesy? We know but stay with us.

Yocket’s Admit predictor is a soothsayer of sorts with the power of information given by your Yocket seniors. It predicts your chances of making it into a particular program in a university you like based on the admit/reject ratio, profile comparison, and experience of previous Yocket users to that particular university course. It is currently designed for aspirants pursuing Master’s in either US or Canada.

It’s a very handy feature that combines artificial intelligence and machine learning to give you a very close approximation of your chances of getting an admit to a university course.

Let us break it down for you.

Admit Predictor has three components

  • Historical Yocket user data.
  • Artificial Intelligence based algorithm.
  • Machine Learning.

Here’s how they work together

  1. Imagine you’re the new Yocket user. You fill in all the profile details like your aptitude test scores (GRE), English test scores (IELTS, TOEFL, etc), UG scores, relevant experience and relevant technical papers published.
  2. The AI algorithm then takes in all the above information you provided as it did with all the previous Yocket user profiles.
  3. Now, when you check for your admit chances under a university course, the AWS based ML algorithm compares your profile with all the previous Yocket profiles who got admitted or rejected to this particular university course.
  4. Based on the average admits and rejects for this university course, the algorithm predicts your approximate admit chances.
  5. Later, when you get an admit or reject and choose to update it on your profile the algorithm takes in the information and updates its calculations for the next user.

Since we use historical data and artificial intelligence to collate it, these chances are approximations. But its accuracy can be improved by constant feeding of profile information to our algorithm

Algorithnom nom nom nom!

How to enable it and where to access it?

Though this feature is as good as it gets, there are a few rules to access it.

  1. You must be a Yocketer. <Get the app> or <Sign up> on the website. Your choice!
  2. We are currently catering only to Master courses in US or Canada, so you must be applying for a Master’s in the US or Canada to enjoy this feature.
  3. You must fill in these below mandatory fields to get your admit predictor score:
  • UG scores,
  • GRE scores (including not taken),
  • English test scores,
  • Work experience,
  • technical papers

4. Once completed the above steps, visit the University Program page and check under the Admission section.

Things to remember

  1. THIS IS IMPORTANT! Though we are using artificial intelligence and Machine learning tools to run this feature, it gives only a ‘Close enough’ figure. It’s not the actual score.
  2. SECOND MOST IMPORTANT THING! This does not represent the university’s decision in admitting you or rejecting you.
  3. Do not apply to a university program because you’ve got a better admit score but apply because you want to.

Admit Predictor is an indirect gift your seniors give you by sharing their information and if you want to gift your juniors, strap on and head to your profile and start filling it right now.
