I had that thought initially as well. But the NYT article does go on to discuss how millennials are just skirting using credit cards entirely as a payment method. So I guess the issue from an economic standpoint is not that millennials aren’t falling into debt, it’s that they aren’t building credit.

Although, yes I agree I can’t see how it would be positive if everyone were just accumulating debt.
