Addressing Workplace Wellness Challenges

Employers are placing increased focus on wellness programs and incentives to use them, however a key issue is being ignored. Stress. Stress in the workplace is commonly overlooked as inevitable and acceptable, but it actually costs Canada over $50 billion annually in health-care costs and decreased productivity!
So while efforts to address workplace wellness challenges through wellness programs is a good first step, it is only looking at the tip of the iceberg. Organizations have to start looking at how much stress they generate and set in place practices to rein it in to a less hazardous level. As with many health issues, prevention is a more effective tactic that should be explored.
