What To Do After A Run?
During running you will break down a lot of leg muscles at the micro level. After every run I recommend a cool down and stretching routine which will help heal your body.
At the end of your run do the following:
- Cool down walk at a brisk pace of 3.4mph — 3.8mph…gradually slowing down to 3mph
- Stretch. At a minimum do the following stretches (30–45 seconds each):
- Quad Stretch
- Calf Stretch
- Hamstring Stretch
The stretches help you get ready for the next workout and they re-align any muscle fibers which may get twisted during the run.
If you have more time, I recommend a full body stretching routine as this is the best time to do it. Your body is warm and your muscles are responsive. You will become more flexible and recover faster from your workout.
