Well, wait a sec. I have no doubt that your husband had a maddening boss and is now making more money in marketing. But there are definitely terrible bosses in the corporate sector too, and plenty of employees at nonprofits make great salaries and have great managers (even in the arts). So I don’t want to suggest that his experience + the LW’s = a universal truth.

I will grant, however, that poorly-run arts organizations offer their own particular flavor of unpleasantness that you’re unlikely to find in the business world.
