Constellation Celebration at Kennedy Space Center (December 21)

Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex will celebrate the 50th anniversary of Apollo 8’s objective to orbit the moon — and guests can expect an all-star group of astronauts there, too. The Dec. 21 event will mark the launch date of the crewed mission that became the first to leave low-Earth orbit with astronauts Bill Anders, Frank Borman and Jim Lovell. It’s famously known for producing “Earthrise,” a Christmas Eve photo captured by Anders that showed a bright blue Earth from the moon’s vantage point.

Astronauts Anousheh Ansari, Ron Garan, Leland Melvin and Nicole Stott will host the event, which runs from 5 to 11 p.m. (or 7 to 11 p.m. depending on tickets) at several locations across the Visitor Complex.
