Week 4: Starting a Community

This week turned out pretty nicely. Our team connected over concept for a startup, brewed up ideas, began to do market research, and prepared our minds for the semester to come. Really this week was about getting our feet wet, getting our sea (or startup) legs and trying not to get sea sick from the overwhelming thought of the responsibility of starting a new idea. The idea we have is a big one indeed and we believe it has the potential to be a game changer. Our long run target industry to disrupt is the analyst industry, but we’ve decided to take a peripheral approach to get there. Our approach starts with tackling the music industry first. What does the music industry have to do with the analyst industry, you say? Well, almost nothing. Except, both industries rely heavily on reputation and peer feedback. This is the bridge we’re relying on to bridge between industry verticals that are so far removed from each other.

Everyone is essentially an analyst when it comes to their own “god-giving” talent, and—vaguely speaking—we’d like to empower people to discover, develop and leverage their talents online. More to come.
