When I started smoking in 2001, I could collect my quarters and procure a pack of Camels for $2.75. When I quit in January 2015, I paid almost $8.00/pack for Marlboro Reds.

There’s a Hold Steady song that says, “She only pays attention to the prices of cigarettes/she hopes they’ll get cheaper.” I’ve always consider her one of Craig Finn’s most tragic characters. That nicotine fix will just keep getting more and more expensive.
