New Orleans Saints
Ever since the arrival of Sean Payton and Drew Brees in 2006 the New Orleans Saints have boasted a powerful offense based around the passing game. The likes of Jeremy Shockey, Darren Sproles, Lance Moore, and Robert Meachem have all found success in the Saints offense. The Saints, however, have fallen on hard times in recent years. Don’t get me wrong the Saints can still score with the best of them but the defense that starred for the 2009 Super Bowl team has been dismantled and has become the weakness of an otherwise great team. The Saints have run into salary cap problems and were forced this offseason to dramatically re-do the team. Out are Jimmy Graham and Kenny Stills, two core offensive players who flourished in the passing game. In are Max Unger and C.J Spiller, two players who place an emphasis on the running game. With an aging (yet still elite) Drew Brees running the offense, The Saints are shifting their focus to the running game for the first time in years. The 2015–2016 Saints squad will look very different and it will be interesting to see how this dramatic shift in offensive philosophy works. Mark Ingram was re-signed to carry the load in the running game and C.J Spiller will give the Saints a thunder and lightening combo coming out of the backfield. If the Saints can use the draft picks they have stockpiled in this draft wisely and get some much needed help for the defense I believe that they can still find a way to be successful. With an improved run game and Drew Brees being able to make anybody look great, the offense should be exciting as always, albeit very different. Luckily for the Saints, the NFC South is an incredibly weak division so the Saints stint in the cellar can be short lived. Just fix the damn defense.
