My mind’s always been stuck on this sort of quirk of English: I have always wanted to be different; I have always been different.

There is the first different, the aspirational different. The different that people look up to. The kind of different that gets people not only noticed, but celebrated. The kind of different that gets people lifted up. The kind of different that is worth being.
