Protestors Arrested for Protecting Sacred Lands From TMT
Native Hawaiian protestors were arrested after they formed a blockade on the Mauna Kea Observatory Axis Road April 2, 2015. They formed a blockade to prevent construction vehicles fro reaching the summit where they plan on building the worlds largest telescope. The Native Hawaiian people are trying to protect lands they believe are sacred to them and their ancestors and do not want development on the mountain. HPD officers arrived and arrested many of the protestors for obstruction.
