Credibility of Internet Material

In a world filled with frauds and phones the public is dying for authenticity. Taking information from internet sources at face value is not only risky, but also foolish.

The internet has reached an age that permits practically anyone to put information online. There is no magical filter that delegates whether or not the content is credible. We must become the filter.

The article did an excellent job of providing practical steps to gain discernment for choosing a reliable source.

In order for a source to gain the trust of the viewer, it needs to have several things in order.

First, the author must show his credibility by stating why he is an expert or a reliable source for the topic. Without credibility the websites provide no reason to be trusted by viewers.

Next, the website must have competency in the area. Websites must prove that they are experts on the topic being discussed.

Finally, the article must be relevant to the date and topic of the research. An outdated article or website has a high probability of being inaccurate.

Through providing needed information, a capable researcher should be able weed out the good from the bad. Though the sea of the internet is vast and deep, it can be easily navigated with the right captain on board.
