Defiant Van Gaal
LVG was under enormous pressure before the game with Chelsea at Old Trafford. The media has been sending reports that claimed it was going to be his last game in charge of the Red Devils. Amid speculation that Jose Mourinho and maybe Giggs will take the post if he truly leaves. But yet, lets look how he approached for the clash with the CHAMPIONS OF ENGLAND :
Motivation. LVG making clear that recent performances had not been good enough. Maybe in the dressing room he might make it more clearly and the players respond well for the match with Chelsea. They fought for every inch for the grass and played with determination that we have not seen in a long time. The rumours of the players that does not want to play for the manager were dispelled. United started strongly and pkayed with urgency and a good tempo.
Tactics. Our beloved captain returned for this match and filled the center foward spot and Martial played on the left wing pushing out the out of form Depay. The midfield was where that influence the match, the return of Bastian Schweinsteiger and paired with the combative Schneiderlin behind Herrera was a blessing. This change have brought more fluidity and United seemed to functioned better with this tactical change. We can saw for the game with Stoke, the pairing of Fellaini and Carrick is absolutely utterly rubbish. They have no mobility, slow, and do not fit well. Carrick must pair with a combative midfielder like Schneiderlin for him to function well and influence games with his passing. I do not know if Van Gaal is an idiot but he does not realise that Schneiderlin is important for United, without him, United performed badly. Schneiderlin’s reintroduction against Chelsea coincided with a more solid, organised performance. After a run of four straight defeats it was a welcome return. Schneiderlin was the best defensive midfielder in the EPL last season with Southhampton. For me, this is the best suited and strongest lineup only with the absence of Luke Shaw. United played well and with a good tempo.
Demeanor. LVG was not even at the technical area, he prefer to watch like always from his beloved seat in the dugout. He looked his usual stern self and totally focused on the job with a pen and notepad to his aid. We need a manager that goes to the touchline and screams and tells the players what to do when things are not going as planned.
Substitutions. Man United in the 2nd half cannot maintained the tempo like in the first half and it started with the introduction of Depay for Juan Mata. Mata played okay but still LVG send on the lazy and off form Dutchmen. He was rubbish. He just caught out in posession always and did not influence the game at all. Darmian was was take off due to his fitness because this was his first game since returning from injury. The young Cameron Borthwick Jackson came on for Darmian and he played okay. Late in the game he set up a good cross to Rooney but the Captain sky high it. Rooney should do better. He only scored 5 goals in 2015, but yet LVG said he is pleased with Rooney’s performance. I just cannot brain. Hernandez, we could probably need you right now. Van Gaal is an imbecile to ship you out to Leverkusen our beloved Little Pea. Sigh.
Overall. LVG is on borrowed time. He will be judged on results. This was a good fighting response from United. It remains to be seen that if LVG are going to see out his contract until 2017. He must do things right start from now and pick the strongest 1st eleven for every game. Not just chop in and out players as he wish without really affecting the results. Please do play Pereira, he is such a waste of talent on the bench. If United perform like the game with THE CHAMPIONS OF ENGLAND, and with luck from the God Almighty, United will be lucky if they will finish in the top four again this season.
