Thanks for the comment. Yes you can go far with monolith like the example of Uber and Netflix before they switched to microservices. However even though you can go far with monolith, you will eventually most likely spend a lot of time and resources switching to a scalable distributed pattern like microservices. So our post was more about whether startups should jump straight to microservices from the beginning and highlight the current low barrier of entry regarding infrastructure, tooling etc.
Of course there are cases like Etsy who are reported to so far resisting the temptation of moving away from monolith because it works for them!
