Introduction to Enterprise Applications
Do you buy clothes online? Do you buy books online? Well, do you buy, “online”?
The internet era or the data era has made tremendous progress in domains such as supply chain, resource management, e-Commerce, e-Governance, and more. It is the convenience and availability that mattered for the boom these industries. The progress here is perceived in metrics like volume of transactions, complexity, scalability and reliability.
This growth induces a problem. A bottleneck in the process. Which is exactly Human efficiency and productivity. Any entity private or government would have to hire people at scale to accomplish the process flow required for complete a transaction, posing latency to the completion of the transaction.
Thanks to software developers… HEHE!! We have a concept of Enterprise Applications. A complex set of modular program that accomplishes the needs specific to an entity at any scale. The application can be a CRM, ERP or a simple Order creation platform.
A general example is an Online Store. Where you can see the catalog of products or services, make a purchase of the item, pay for the purchase, see delivery or progress stats, feedback, rating and review. Adding complexity to the same, the store would offer more than basic operations. Order suggestions, trends, promotions, cult updates, events and community building and more features are added based on the requirement set by the entity.
